Framlingham College’s Governors have decided to build a new pavilion, next to the existing cricket pavilion, alongside the school’s main cricket pitch, The Back.
The new structure is a design and build project from Surrey-based Sports Clubhouses, which will be project-managed by Synergy LLP. The new pavilion will both complement the current pavilion (which will undergo improvements) and reflect features of the Sixth Form Centre completed in 2014.
Having received planning approval in June 2016, the plan is to commence building work in Autumn 2016 – with completion expected in Summer 2017.
Inside the new pavilion
A multi-use function room will be a key element of the new building. The space will offer spectators excellent views over the cricket and hockey pitches, and be ideal for presentations, lectures and other educational purposes. The new pavilion will also include a kitchen and serving area, allowing for the College to provide catering in support of matches, tournaments and other events.
The new building will also have additional changing rooms available for outdoor sports, and to supplement those used for indoor sports. The existing car parking arrangements, at the nearby sports centre and hockey pitch car parks, will be available to people coming to the new building.
Funding for the project is largely due to a substantial legacy from the estate of Yela Fowler. She made this donation in loving memory of her late husband Derek Fowler DFM (Garrett 1935-40), through the Society of Old Framlinghamians.
