Boarders’ Bushcraft Activity

I am delighted to report the invitation to attend the boarders Bushcraft activity on Sunday was met with a great response. A number of children stayed on Saturday night, enjoying tuck, popcorn and a big screen movie. After a good night’s sleep, those who boarded and those who who were joining for the morning, began to congregate on the lower terrace, for breakfast.

The pupils fuelled up on a breakfast of bacon and sausage sandwiches, all cooked on a BBQ and eaten outside under a brightening sky. The group of intrepid bushcrafters then headed off to the most south easterly point of the school grounds, near the start of the 5 bridges walk. The plan for the morning was to build dens, produce some nature art and create a nature documentary on the iPads.

The 3 hours came and went in a flash as dens were built, snacks were eaten, dens were built again, haystacks were climbed and nature art was produced. It was a beautifully warm and sunny day, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. It was great to see a group with such enthusiasm and energy being children and exploring our wonderful environment.

Prizes were awarded for; teamwork and collaboration, perseverance in den building and nature art.

Huge thanks to Mr Loveridge for organising the activities and Padre Clement, whose extra pair of hands were incredibly helpful.
