Junior Prep Department
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6
As the pupils advance to Key Stage 2, we offer a broad-based and stimulating curriculum and a gentle transition from the Pre-Prep complex to the well-resourced Junior Prep classroom block and other areas of the School. We encourage each child to meet his or her academic potential and open up a varied range of activities. We believe these help our pupils to develop a zest for life on the long road to independence.

Curriculum
The curriculum is based around the Key Stage 2 of the National Curriculum. The teaching elements are delivered through a subject-based timetable, offering a greater breadth of experience and opportunity than outlined at Key Stage 2. A tutor-based approach is adopted in the early years, leading on to the use of specialist subject teachers as pupils move through this phase of the school. Pupils in Years 3, 4 and 5 will be taught in their Tutor Groups for most of their subjects. Pupils in Year 6 are taught in streamed academic groups with English and Mathematics being set. Talented Year 6 pupils and external candidates can apply for 11+ continuation scholarships to Framlingham College or to some of the other best schools in the country.
