Daily Routine
The Little Bears Nursery is open from 8.25am to 3.45pm. We offer morning sessions between 08.30 am and 11.45 am and afternoon sessions between 12.45pm and 3.45pm. After their third birthday Children can have lunch after a morning session or before an afternoon session.
The Pre-prep department offers an after school care option known as 'After School Club' for children over three. Children are able to stay for an extra hour until the end of the main school at 5pm for an extra cost.
On arrival at The Little Bears an adult needs to sign in the child in their care on the daily form provided. Please sign next to the child’s name and record the time of arrival in the appropriate column. An adult must also sign out the child they are collecting. This is the legal registration record but we also encourage the children to register by selecting their name and attaching it on the board in the classroom. Children can choose any peg to hang up their coat and bag.
After registration children engage in a period of free choice play, if they do not wish to engage with the resources that are on offer they can access their choice from the storage units around the nursery. We encourage the children to tidy away before moving on to another activity if no one else is using it. Once all the children are registered the doors to the outside learning environment are opened and children may choose to play inside or outside as they wish. At this point we will usually start the adult focused activity for the session. At approximately half way through the morning or afternoon session we break for a snack. We warn the children that in five minutes we will tidy up, giving them time to wind up their play before we all help to tidy the nursery. The children then enjoy a story before having a snack together. The morning session is concluded with singing whilst the afternoon session concludes with a brief story.
