Boys Hockey
Hockey is the major game for boys in Years 5-8 in the Spring term and for the Under 9s in the autumn term. Boys in Year 7 and 8 in the 1st and 2nd XI train on astro and boys in the 3rds and 4ths train on grass. We take enormous pride in how quickly the number of boys who join us in Year 7, who have never played hockey before take to the game. Boys in Years 5 and 6 train on a mixture of grass and astro and the Under 9s train on our outstanding grass pitches. All age groups practice or play matches 3 times a week.

The prevailing Brandeston attitude of enthusiasm, excellence and involvement is most evident on the hockey pitch and we take great pride that our Colts team have been County Champions 6 times in the last decade; East of England Champions and National Finalists. We also take pride that our Senior boys were National Champions in 2003. We also take just as great pride in the achievements of our D teams and 4ths teams.
We have a strong coaching hockey coaching staff that includes international and county playing and coaching experience. Our fixture list includes the strongest schools in the region and on average the Under 9s will play 6 matches during the season (plus tournaments), the Under Colts will play 10 matches (plus tournaments) and the Seniors will play around 10 to 14 matches (plus tournaments). The 1st XI and the Under 11A enjoy an annual tours.
We have strong links with many local clubs and have hosted a invitational tournament for the regions strongest clubs for the past 10 years. Brandeston has a extraordinary record of prolifically producing County hockey players and at last count we had reached 30 boys and 18 girls in the last 10 years!
