Senior Prep
Years 7 and 8
The two senior years at Brandeston, especially for those children from smaller schools give our new pupils time to adjust to the senior curriculum. It affords them time to take more personal responsibility for themselves and enjoy their time as 'senior' pupils. After all, not all 11 and 12 year olds are comfortable with older teenagers who are about to make their way in the world. Another advantage of our transfer system is that senior school fees do not start until pupils enter Year 9.

Curriculum
The curriculum is broader and more specialised over these years. It is delivered though a subject-based timetable and focuses on the requirements for Common Entrance at 13+. Pupils are prepared for examination in English, Mathematics, Science, French, Geography and History with non-examination subjects enriching the breadth and experience for the children. Pupils are set in English and Mathematics and are taught in streamed groups for all other subjects.
Common Entrance
Brandeston Hall was purchased in 1948 by the Society of Old Framlinghamians as a living memorial to those who gave their lives in two World Wars. Prior to this, younger pupils from age 10 were educated at the College. At that time, however, it was expected that Brandeston Hall would expand and flourish in its own right to and it certainly has done that. The majority of Year 7 and 8 pupils do transfer to Framlingham College which is without doubt, one of the best schools in our area and a natural choice for many parents. However, in preparing our students for Common Entrance, we acknowledge your right to choose.
