Entry at Age 13
Most applicants are assessed through interview and Common Entrance or Scholarship examination, but we are happy to make special arrangements for those who are not at standard preparatory schools. Pupils for whom Common Entrance is inappropriate will be asked to sit tests in core subjects, and key stage testing is also considered. Pupils who are not entered for Common Entrance will take the 13+ Entrance Examinations in the January of the year of entry. For further information please contact the Admissions Officer.
Entry at Age 16
We welcome applications for admission into the Sixth Form; we have a significant post-GCSE entry into the Sixth Form and places are offered on the basis of an interview and a reference from the candidate’s current school. All offers are conditional upon a minimum of 7 A*-C passes at GCSE/IGCSE (5 passes at HKCEE with minimum C in the subjects that the student wishes to study). Most overseas candidates are additionally tested in English and Mathematics.
For all applicants, full school reports will be requested at the time of Registration. The general school record and the pupil’s contribution to the life of the previous school is taken into account. Places are conditional upon parental acceptance of our published terms and conditions.
Please note that there are also occasional places for candidates of a ‘non-standard’ age of entry. Each case will be considered on its merits.
Visiting the School and Registration
Before registering your son or daughter, it is strongly recommend that you visit the school to receive a tour of the academic and pastoral facilities and meet with students and the Head of the College or The Headmaster at Brandeston Hall. Please contact either the Admissions Officer or The Headmaster’s Personal Assistant (as appropriate) and they will be pleased to tailor the visit to your individual requirements.
Following your visit, you will be sent a Registration Form to complete should you wish to register your child at the school and we will ask for this to be returned with a registration fee of £50 (non-refundable). If you are unable to visit or you wish to register your child without making a visit, please do not hesitate to contact the Admissions Officer for a Registration Form .
Acceptance Procedure
Once your son or daughter is registered, a reference will be obtained from their current school and the application will be considered. If successful, you will receive a conditional offer of a place for your child at the Preparatory or Senior School and, six months prior to entry you will be sent a copy of our Terms and Conditions and asked to complete the Acceptance Form. At this time we will also request an acceptance deposit of £200. Please note that if registration takes place after 1st March for entry in the September of that year, the registration fee and acceptance deposit must be paid together.
