Record Breaking GCSE Results 2011
Published: Thursday 25 August, 2011 at 08:50 UK
We are delighted to report an outstanding set of GCSE results for Framlingham College; indeed, on most counts they are our best ever. 96.5% of pupils secured 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths whilst 56% of the grades awarded were A* or A grade, and over a quarter of pupils gained at least 9 A*or A grades.
One or two individual performances are worthy of particular note. Emma Vidler secured an outstanding 12 A*s, while Claire Walker achieved 11 A*s and 1 A grade. Congratulations also go to Chris Hart, Milly Hopkinson, Angela Koo, Tony Lam and Lucy Pring, all of whom secured at least 8 A*s.
Paul Taylor, Headmaster, was ‘thrilled with this outstanding set of results. We are proud of the academic breadth of our intake, and these stunning individual achievements at the top of the scale show that the College continues to stretch the most able."
"Equally pleasing is fact that over 80% of all grades awarded were at B grade or above, confirming the outstanding added value that the College provides to those who are not natural A grade candidates, enabling them to enter the next stage of their education with real confidence and ambition’.
I would like to congratulate the pupils, teachers (and, of course, parents!) on this outstanding set of results.
A-Level Results 2011
Published: Thursday 18 August, 2011 at 09:05 UK
Framlingham College is pleased to announce another highly satisfactory year of A level results. A full statistical analysis is available on this page, but the headline figures are that students achieved a pass rate of 99.7%, with 89.4% of entries being awarded A*- C grades – both significant improvements on last year. It is particularly pleasing that well over a third (38.3%) of all grades were A* or A.
Importantly, the vast majority of students secured their university places. This year’s headlines have focussed on the highly competitive entrance requirements for university, and there is no doubt that this has been the hardest year to date in terms of securing a university place. There are 40% more applicants than places, primarily due to the reduction of ‘Gap’ years in light of the introduction of higher tuition fees from 2012. It is thus particularly pleasing to note that the vast majority of our students have had their university offers confirmed, and we are working closely with the few who have sadly not made either of their chosen universities' grade requirements (and who in previous years may well have been accepted).
Headmaster Paul Taylor was ‘very pleased with this fine set of results, which has confirmed Framlingham as one of the leading academic schools in the area. It is good to see the combined efforts of students, teachers and parents being rewarded.'
