A Review of 'A Midsummer Nights Dream'

December 2010

What does one remember of Dreams? We are such stuff that, rounded with a sleep, the merciful computer of the brain deletes so much, though in these modern times no doubt it is recorded in some deep ‘shared area’.  For the rest, as in a limbeck only, the septennial Dream haunts us – Michelle Mayhew or Chantalle Clelland beneath the bat-like brolleys, Shakespeare in the round.  And could the agèd eagle spread his wings, could Antonio pull it off once more, the old master who in recent years has delegated much to his dynamic female counterpart?

KES - Summer Production 2010

On Friday 25th and Saturday 26th June a cast of 40 Year 9 and 10 pupils presented the drama KES in the Headmaster Porter Theatre. The production combined slide photography and narrated extracts from Barry Hines' novel A Kestrel for a Knave alongside the script to bring the story to life for its audience.

The cast deserve huge praise for their commitment and hard work over the summer term and congratulations for the power of their performances. Max Falconer took the part of Billy Casper and delivered his role with intelligence and sensitivity. He was wonderfully supported throughout by the ensemble and the highly professional quality of the technical and stage crews.

Seating to our major productions is offered to pupils and their families first and are advertised under Forthcoming Events.

Previous drama productions include Anything Goes by Cole Porter.
