The College and its Prep School have looked to embed mindfulness within the curriculum for various year groups.
The aim is to teach pupils some techniques that will help them manage the increasing pressures they’re facing in today’s world. For example, mindfulness might help to relieve performance anxiety in music, drama, sport or exams. It may also encourage better sleep patterns, improve concentration, or simply help students to manage the daily stresses of school.
Over 25 teachers have been trained in the techniques through the Mindfulness in Schools Project and now pupils in Year 9 are experiencing that Project’s “.b Mindfulness” curriculum. In time, the subject will be part of the learning for pupils in Year 4 right up to the Sixth Form.
Mindfulness is just one of the ways we’re looking to improve the wellbeing of pupils. Through our strong pastoral system, with tutors at the forefront, we work with each boy and girl as an individual to build a strong relationship. This helps to ensure that every one achieves a good balance in life.
