Year 9 History trip to Duxford

The leaden skies and occasional downpours over the former World War II RAF fighter base at Duxford, did little to dampen the enthusiasm of our Year 9 historians this week as they continued their study of the Battle of Britain.

Although the weather put paid to any hopes of seeing Spitfires and Hurricanes taking to the skies over Cambridgeshire, there was plenty to keep their young minds engaged. There was also an opportunity to discover more about the actions of Old Framlinghamian ‘Gus’ Agar RN whose display of ‘daredevil gallantry’ in the Gulf of Finland in the summer of 1919 earned him what became known as the ‘Mystery VC’.

All things considered, it was definitely another day to remember.
