Twenty-six Fram Prep mathematicians from Years 7 and 8 reached the Gold, Silver or Bronze standard of excellence in the UKMT 2018 Junior Mathematics Challenge this year. The competition, run by the Leeds University based UK Mathematics Trust, is aimed at individuals who have a particular talent for Maths. Over a quarter of a million Year 7 and 8s from around the country took part in this challenge.
To challenge our many More Able pupils at Fram Prep, 40 enthusiastic Set 1 and Set 2 pupils were entered for the tough but fun challenge in April. We were thrilled to hear this week that our certificate haul was nearly doubled this year: well done all!
Bronze: (next 21%)
William Singleton (Year 8) and Ben King (Year 7) also received ‘Best in Year’ certificates with the additional accolade of ‘Best in School’ for William and the honour of being invited to the next round of the competition called ‘The Kangaroo’ .
Mrs Russell, Head of Mathematics, was delighted with the passion for problem solving shown by all our Junior Challenge Award winners.
