Harry Rowland has received an RFU National Award for his outstanding contribution to the YRA programme and the impact in the local community.

Harry joined 60 other Young Rugby Ambassadors on the 26th May for the annual National YRA Celebration Event at Twickenham hosted by the England, Barbarians, Lions legend and current RFU President, John Spencer with special guest and current England Captain, Dylan Hartley.

Harry was “Highly Commended” in the prestigious “The YRA of The Year” category in recognition of “his incredible first season as a YRA, making the most of the opportunities available.”

Harry’s refereeing at County, Regional and National Festivals and support of the ABF Soldier’s Charity demonstrated to the RFU his commitment to the programme and showed that he had gone above and beyond the YRA programme. He had also demonstrated the RFU Core Values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship.

The National RFU YRA Award is an incredible achievement and recognition for 16 year old Harry who had been independently assessed by the RFU in direct competition against the many talented 14 – 25 year olds that make up the YRA’s 4,700 strong national membership.

As a treat, all of the YRAs then watched a star-studded Barbarian side take on England in The Quilter Cup in preparation for their three Test summer series against South Africa.
